謝作偉教授，中國科學院院士，香港科學院院士，中國化學會及英國皇家化學會會士，南方科技大學格拉布斯研究院院長、化學系講席教授。謝作偉院士主要從事金屬有機化學、主族元素化學及含硼藥物的研究，核心工作包括碳硼烷B-H鍵選擇性催化官能團化、超級碳硼烷、金屬碳硼烷、低價硼化學、均相催化、小分子活化、硼中子俘獲療法（BNCT）中含硼新藥開發(fā)等領域的研究。開創(chuàng)性地提出了碳硼烷惰性硼氫鍵選擇性功能化的通用策略和超級碳硼烷的合成方法，對碳硼烷化學的發(fā)展做出重要貢獻。截至目前已發(fā)表360余篇論文，其工作多次在美國化學會周刊C&EN上作為亮點介紹，部分研究成果被寫入多本中英文大學教科書，包括由Housecroft、Sharpe 撰寫的國際權威性化學教科書《Inorganic Chemistry》以及《高等無機化學》、《高等無機結構化學》等。以第一完成人獲2008年國家自然科學獎二等獎、2003年香港裘槎基金會杰出研究獎、2010年中國化學會黃耀曾金屬有機化學獎、2020年香港研究資助局首屆高級研究學者獎、2022年德國洪堡研究獎等。
